The Northwest Railway Museum in Snoqualmie, WA is trying to save Northern Pacific wood parlor car 1799 (Pullman 1901). Retired in 1941, it has been a beach cottage ever since. The owners now wish to redevelop the land and have offered the car to the museum. The challenge is raising the money to move it. The Washington Trust for Historic Preservation has placed car 1799 on its 2017 annual list of the most endangered places.
As the photos show, the interior is in excellent shape.
Two weeks ago the annual Seattle Foundation Give Big charitable giving event raised more than $13,000 in support of the Parlor Car move. Additional support is welcome and encouraged. Contributions may be made to the NP Parlor car on the Northwest Railway Museum’s donation page.
