2017 coming attractions

What’s new this year in railway preservation? I took a look through the Progress Reports section of this magazine and here are the projects that seem likely to be completed during this operating season. In a few cases they were done last year but we missed it, so better to report them late than not at all.

Alberta Railway Museum 
Canadian National F units 6514 and 6614, acquired from Algoma Central, have been repainted into CN colors and received mechanical work.

Arizona Railway Museum
Rehabbing freight cars is a great way to make the collection more presentable with less cost and volunteer labor. Here are the latest completed projects, thanks to the help of local Eagle Scouts.

W. R. Grace tank car 799, built in 1938.

Southern Pacific tank car 61057, built in 1942.

Southern Pacific auxiliary tool car MW7131.

New to the museum are these two.
